StarPEG-heparin hydrogels
- modular gel platform adjustable for various 3D culture requirements
- rapid gelation, applicable in presence of cells, cytokines, culture media
- biomimetic binding of many cytokines/growth factors (reversible conjugation)
- decoupled variation of physical and biomolecular matrix signals
- cell-driven (enzymatic) degradation ’on demand’
- suitable for bioprinting and microprocessing (microgels, cryogels)
- superior to Matrigel in various 3D culture applications
The biohybrid starPEG-heparin hydrogel platform has been developed and is being further expanded at the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e.V. (IPF)/ Institute of Biofunctional Polymer Materials (IBP). The material is protected by the patent family (WO2010060485A1) which was acquired by ZetaSCIENCE for scalable fabrication and distribution.
